Quick Summary

Pedagogical Perspective (PedPer) (eISSN: 2822-4841) supports the open dissemination of scholarly knowledge and encourages authors to maximise the visibility, accessibility, and impact of their work by depositing articles in repositories and scholarly platforms. All PedPer articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), and no embargo period applies to any version.

1) Manuscript Versions — Definitions

PedPer distinguishes between three manuscript versions for the purposes of self-archiving and repository deposit:

Version

Description

Also Known As

Preprint

The author’s original manuscript before peer review. This is the version initially submitted to the journal.

Submitted manuscript, original manuscript

Accepted manuscript

The author’s final manuscript after peer review and acceptance, but before journal copyediting, typesetting, and formatting.

Postprint, author accepted manuscript (AAM)

Version of Record (VoR)

The final, published version that has been peer-reviewed, accepted, copyedited, typeset, and formatted by the journal. This is the authoritative version.

Published version, publisher’s PDF

3) Where Authors May Deposit

Authors may deposit permitted manuscript versions in:

  • Institutional repositories (e.g., university digital libraries);
  • Disciplinary or subject repositories (e.g., EdArXiv, SSRN, EduResearchHub);
  • National or international open-access archives;
  • Personal academic websites or departmental webpages;
  • Scholarly sharing platforms and academic social networks (e.g., ResearchGate, Academia.edu), where consistent with the platform’s terms and the CC BY 4.0 license.

4) Conditions for All Deposits

Regardless of the version deposited, the following conditions apply:

  • Attribution: The deposited copy must include a full citation to the original publication in Pedagogical Perspective (PedPer), including the article title, author(s), volume, issue, page range (if applicable), and year.
  • DOI link: The article’s DOI or official URL linking to the journal version must be included.
  • License notice: The deposited version must display the CC BY 4.0 license notice.
  • Version identification: The deposited file must clearly identify which version it is (preprint, accepted manuscript, or Version of Record).

5) License and Reuse

All PedPer articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). Under this license:

  • Depositing and sharing are permitted for any lawful purpose, including commercial use;
  • Adaptations (e.g., translations, teaching materials, remixed figures/tables) are permitted, provided proper attribution is given and changes are indicated;
  • No additional permission from the authors or journal is required for reuse, provided the CC BY 4.0 attribution requirements are met.

For full details, see the Copyright & License page.

6) Preprint Policy

PedPer encourages the sharing of preprints to promote early dissemination of research. The following conditions apply:

  • Authors may post their preprint on a preprint server or repository at any time, including before, during, or after peer review at PedPer.
  • Posting a preprint does not constitute prior publication and does not conflict with PedPer’s simultaneous submission policy.
  • If the preprint is subsequently accepted and published by PedPer, the author should update the preprint record with the DOI and full citation of the published article.
  • If the manuscript is rejected by PedPer, the preprint may remain in the repository; the author is free to submit the work to another journal.

7) Funder Compliance

PedPer’s repository policy — with immediate deposit of all versions, no embargo, and a CC BY 4.0 license — is fully compatible with the open-access mandates of major research funders, including:

  • Plan S / cOAlition S (Rights Retention Strategy compliant);
  • European Commission Horizon Europe;
  • National research councils and funding agencies worldwide that require green or gold OA.

Authors whose funders require specific deposit conditions are encouraged to verify compatibility and to contact the editorial office if they have questions.

8) Recommended Deposit Statement

When depositing any version in a repository, authors are encouraged to include the following statement (adapted to the relevant version):

This is the [preprint / accepted manuscript / published Version of Record] of an article published in Pedagogical Perspective (PedPer). Please cite the original publication: [full citation]. DOI: [DOI link]. Licensed under CC BY 4.0 (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/).

If the deposited version has been adapted (e.g., translated), also add: “Adapted from…” and briefly describe the changes.

9) Retracted Articles

If a deposited article is subsequently retracted by PedPer, the author should update the repository record to indicate the retraction and link to the retraction notice. The deposited version should not be removed, as it forms part of the scholarly record. For details, see the Corrections, Retractions & Expressions of Concern Policy.

10) SHERPA/RoMEO

PedPer’s self-archiving permissions are registered with SHERPA/RoMEO, the international database of publisher open-access policies. Authors and librarians can verify PedPer’s repository permissions at any time through the SHERPA/RoMEO service.
