2) Mission

Pedagogical Perspective (PedPer) is an international, open-access, peer-reviewed journal publishing English-language research and review articles in education. PedPer welcomes qualitative, quantitative, mixed-methods, theoretical, and methodological studies that advance educational theory and practice and foster interdisciplinary and international dialogue.

The journal aims to provide a rigorous, transparent, and inclusive platform for disseminating original research on teaching, learning, pedagogy, and educational innovation — bringing together global scholars, educators, practitioners, and policy-relevant stakeholders to deepen understanding of key educational issues.

For the full statement of aims and thematic scope, see the Aim & Scope page.

3) Peer Review

All submissions undergo double-blind peer review by at least two independent, subject-area expert reviewers. The editorial workflow includes initial editorial screening (≤3 business days), iThenticate similarity screening, external peer review (target ≤4 weeks), and a final decision by the Editor-in-Chief. The target time from submission to first decision is 8–12 weeks.

For full details, see the Peer Review Policy.

4) Open Access, License, and Fees

PedPer follows a Diamond Open Access model: all published content is freely available online immediately upon publication, with no embargo. Articles are licensed under CC BY 4.0. The journal does not charge any fees — no APCs, no submission fees, no page charges, no subscription fees.

See: Open Access Policy · Copyright & License · APC / Fees

5) Publication Ethics

PedPer’s editorial and publishing practices are guided by COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines. The journal maintains publicly documented policies covering all aspects of research integrity and editorial conduct:

6) Governance

PedPer maintains a clear separation between the Publisher and the Editor-in-Chief to safeguard editorial independence. The Publisher (Erhan Yaylak) is responsible for administrative and operational functions. The Editor-in-Chief (Emrah Akman) holds full responsibility for editorial policy, peer review, and publication decisions. The Publisher does not participate in editorial decisions regarding acceptance, rejection, or content selection.

See: Publisher & Who We Are · Editorial Team

7) Editorial Board

PedPer’s editorial board comprises scholars from multiple countries and institutions, reflecting the journal’s commitment to international and institutional diversity — a key criterion valued by international indexing bodies. The board includes an Editor-in-Chief, Section Editors, and an International Advisory Board.

The full editorial board is publicly listed on the Editorial Team page.

8) Article Types

PedPer publishes four article types, each subject to double-blind peer review:

  • Research Articles — original empirical studies (qualitative, quantitative, mixed-methods, experimental, design-based, methodological)
  • Review Articles — systematic reviews, meta-analyses, scoping reviews, critical/integrative reviews
  • Analysis / Case-Based Articles — case studies, practice-based investigations, policy analyses
  • Vision Papers — forward-looking conceptual, theoretical, or reflective contributions

Editorials for thematic issues are published by invitation. See the Section Policy for details and word limits.

9) Publication Schedule and History

PedPer publishes on a biannual schedule (March and October) and has maintained uninterrupted publication since its founding in 2022:

  • 2022: Volume 1, Issues 1–2 (founding year)
  • 2023: Volume 2, Issues 1–2
  • 2024: Volume 3, Issues 1–2
  • 2025: Volume 4, Issues 1–2
  • 2026: Volume 5, Issue 1 (March 2026) — current

Consistent and timely publication is a key criterion for international indexing bodies.
