Quick Summary
Pedagogical Perspective (PedPer) (eISSN: 2822-4841) provides open-access publication for all articles and materials published online, except where otherwise noted. This page explains copyright ownership, licensing, permitted reuse, self-archiving, text and data mining, attribution, and third-party material.
1) Copyright Ownership
Authors retain copyright of their published articles and materials in PedPer. No copyright transfer is required. By submitting and publishing in PedPer, authors grant the journal a perpetual, non-exclusive license to:
- publish, distribute, and publicly communicate the work as the original publisher;
- identify Pedagogical Perspective (PedPer) as the original place of publication;
- archive and preserve the work in any medium or format;
- include the work in digital archives, indexes, repositories, and preservation systems.
Because PedPer uses a non-exclusive license (not a copyright transfer), authors are free to reuse, share, and build upon their own work at any time, subject to the CC BY 4.0 license terms and proper attribution to PedPer as the original publisher.
2) License: Creative Commons (CC BY 4.0)
All published content is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).
- License summary (deed): https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/
- Legal code: https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/legalcode
Under CC BY 4.0, users may read, download, print, copy, share, and adapt the content for any purpose (including commercial use), provided that:
- Attribution (BY): the original work is properly cited, a link to the license is provided, and changes (if any) are indicated.
3) Permitted Reuse
The following uses are permitted under CC BY 4.0, as long as proper attribution is provided, a link to the license is included, and changes (if any) are indicated:
- Linking to the article page or PDF;
- Downloading and sharing the published version for educational and research purposes;
- Printing and distributing copies;
- Posting the published version on personal, institutional, or academic webpages and repositories;
- Creating and distributing adaptations (e.g., translations, teaching materials, remixes, or adapted figures/tables).
4) Repository Deposit (Self-Archiving)
Authors may deposit the published version of their article in repositories (e.g., institutional repositories) or on personal academic pages, provided that:
- The original publication in PedPer is clearly acknowledged; and
- The DOI/URL to the official journal version is included; and
- The licensing information (CC BY 4.0) is displayed.
If authors deposit an adapted version (e.g., a translation), they must clearly indicate changes and include the CC BY 4.0 license information.
For full details on preprint, accepted manuscript, and Version of Record deposit rights, see the Repository Policy.
5) Text and Data Mining (TDM)
Text and data mining (TDM) is permitted under CC BY 4.0, including for commercial purposes, provided that attribution is maintained and any reuse or redistribution of copyrighted content complies with the attribution requirements (credit, license link, and indication of changes where applicable).
6) Commercial Use and Permission Requests
Because articles are published under CC BY 4.0, commercial reuse and commercial adaptations are permitted without additional permission, as long as the CC BY 4.0 attribution requirements are met.
However, users should note that third-party material (see Section 10) may have separate rights and may require permission from the relevant rightsholder(s). In addition, trademark rights, privacy rights, and other legal restrictions may apply independently of copyright.
7) How License Information Appears in Published Articles
Every article published in PedPer displays the CC BY 4.0 license badge and a link to the license deed on the article page. License information is also embedded in the article metadata registered with Crossref (DOI record), ensuring that indexing databases, discovery platforms, and citation services can accurately display the license status of each article.
8) How to Request Permission / Contact
In most cases, no permission is required for reuse under CC BY 4.0. For questions about attribution, reuse scenarios, or third-party rights, please contact:
info@pedagogicalperspective.com
Please include:
- Article title, author(s), and DOI/URL;
- The material in question (full article, figure/table, excerpt, etc.);
- Intended use, format, and distribution channel;
- Whether any modification/adaptation is proposed.
9) Attribution Format (How to Cite When Reusing)
When reusing PedPer content, please cite the original publication. A recommended attribution format is:
Author(s). (Year). Title. Pedagogical Perspective (PedPer), Volume(Issue), page range (if applicable). DOI/URL. Licensed under CC BY 4.0 (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/).
If you made changes (e.g., translation/adaptation), also add: “Adapted from…” and briefly describe the changes.
10) Third-Party Material
Authors are responsible for obtaining permissions for any third-party material (e.g., figures, tables, images, datasets, long text extracts) included in their manuscripts. Authors must:
- Secure written permission from copyright holders when the material is not covered by an applicable exception (e.g., fair use or similar exceptions);
- Provide permission documentation upon request during submission/production;
- Ensure that reused materials do not violate copyright law.
Where third-party material is included, it must be clearly identified with its own rights statement, as it may not be covered by the article’s CC BY 4.0 license.
11) Copyright and Retracted Articles
If an article is retracted, the original CC BY 4.0 license remains in effect for the published content. The retracted article continues to be available as part of the scholarly record (with a “RETRACTED” watermark and a linked retraction notice), and the license terms still apply to any copies or adaptations made prior to retraction.
The retraction notice itself is also published under CC BY 4.0. For details on the retraction process, see the Corrections, Retractions & Expressions of Concern Policy.
